Step-by-Step Procedure for Updating Property Title Deeds
1. Obtain Your Legal Evidence
HM Land Registry requires your original Deed Poll (or Marriage Certificate / Final Order) to update the proprietor name on the title register.
2. Complete Form AP1 (Change the Register)
Download Form AP1 from GOV.UK. In Panel 4, enter your Property Title Number (found on your property deeds or searched on gov.uk for £3). In Panel 6, request the proprietor name change.
3. Complete Identity Verification (Form ID1)
To protect against property fraud, if you submit the application without a conveyancing solicitor, you must complete Form ID1 and have your photo ID certified by a solicitor or notary.
4. Send Your Application
Post Form AP1, Form ID1, and your original Deed Poll to:
